I feel bad for ignoring Janelle Monáe for so long. Anytime I saw a picture of her, with the afroquiff and the monochrome tux and whatever, I assumed she was some urban singer from the UK a la Jamelia or like that other bitch who had that song out a few years ago. And I read a bit about her on music blogs ‘n’ shit but I don’t listen to Marina & the Diamonds or Ellie Goulding and I just lumped Janelle Monáe in that same crowd, you know?
